How to avoid sloping shoulders in weight training?

There is lots of contradictory information on the net in regards to weight training and I cant seem to find any answers for my specific question.
Currently I am a in shape and I am at 180. I want to stay at this weight however i want to be really defined (or ripped). Not Arnold Schwarzenegger ripped more like a skinny male model ripped.
My worry is in regards with the shoulders, currently the shape of mine are fine, they are broad, fairly squared and i want to keep them that way. However I noticed a lot of guys who go to the gym and have big muscles have the slopingng shoulder look, where their trapezoids make their shoulders look like hill sides.
I definitely want to avoid this . My only thought is work more on my lateral deltoids.
Any suggestions?
